Fr. Jacob hails from northwest Indiana. He met and married his wife, Matushka Jenna (Mary), at Valparaiso University before attending St. Vladimir's Seminary, where he completed the M.Div. in 2009 and the Th.M. in 2010. After seminary, he continued his theological studies at Saint Louis University, from which he earned the Ph.D. in 2017. Since his ordination to the priesthood here at St. Theodosius Cathedral in September of 2016, he has served in an attached capacity, filling in for Fr. John when needed and leading the Monday evening Bible Study. He has authored several academic essays on the Church Fathers and translated St. Basil the Great: On Christian Ethics for St. Vladimir's Seminary Press. He now teaches the introductory course in Religious Studies at Cleveland State University and the Latin courses at Lutheran West High School in Rocky River.
St. Theodosius Cathedral has a group of men who have been tonsured as Readers in The Holy Orthodox Church. They read the Holy Scriptures, prayers, and other texts before, during, and after liturigcal services.
